Transformation Tuesday: “If I can do it, so can you!”

RachaelToday I have to honor of sharing the success story of one of my awesome teammates, Rachael Reddies. Rachael is a Certified Transportation Broker at Navigator Direct, Inc. Her day is filled with taking care of customers, finding trucks for their loads, dispatching trucks to their facility, and quoting lanes. On top of that, she is a wife and mother to three beautiful children. I have been so inspired by Rachael’s story and her dedication to getting healthy and changing her stars. Here’s her story:

What inspired you to begin this transformation journey?

Last year I went on a trip out of town with my kids to Denver for a baseball tournament.  When we had some free time we went to a water park and I was so overweight that I couldn’t find any sort of outfit that I was even semi comfortable to participate in with them. So I ended up hot and sweaty in jeans and a t-shirt, watching from the side while they had fun. I was miserable and it was disappointing for the kids because I couldn’t participate with them. I promised them that by the same time next year I would have my body together so I could enjoy the water park with them. We got back and I kept putting it off. Then, I started getting heartburn that made my insides feel like they were on fire, and it would not stop. The doctor wanted to put me on daily medication and I was not onboard with that solution. I knew medication was just a band aide for the real problem. The natural solution was to change my diet and loose weight. I kept seeing the ads for T25 and as I watched the before and after pictures, and listened to the people’s stories, I started having hope that maybe a healthy life was possible and that I could make the time for it.  One day I was stuck at home and so miserable. I was fat and overweight and didn’t want to move, I was just sick of all of it. The T25 infomercial came on TV and I knew I had to try it. I couldn’t be worse off than I was at that point. I had nothing to loose. So I ordered T25 and signed up to get started…

What Beachbody program(s) have you done? 

I started with T25 and transitioned into 21 Day Fix. I have now started 21 Day Fix Extreme and PiYo.

What have your results been since starting?

When I started my BMI categorized me as Obese. I am down 55 lbs and I no longer experience heartburn or any other related symptoms. My BMI currently has me at overweight and after the next 15 pounds I loose I will be at a normal weight.

What motivated you to keep going?  

I have a list of things that keep me motivated.  The first thing was that I have to set the example for my children; if I want them to live healthy lives, I had to live a healthy life.  Second, if you have success in Beachbody programs you can win money, prizes, and trips. I need all 3 of those, so that got me motivated in the beginning. And then, once I had the right coach and got into a challenge group, it all came together (the support, motivation, incentives, and encouragement) and worked for me. Some days I would be motivated because if I didn’t check in I knew my coach would check in with me or another day I would see someone else’s post of their hard day and yet they still worked out so it would inspire me. If I ever ran into an issue, my coach was readily available to help me. The daily postings in the challenge groups that encouraged, offered advice, or taught me something also kept me motivated, and seeing other people’s success stories was definitely a huge part in keeping me on track. If they could do it, why not me? When you add in Shakeology, my energy increased and curbed my cravings, so I was able to start feeling in control and healthy, and realized I never wanted to go back to the other way of life. Remembering how I used to feel also keeps me motivated to stay on track to reach my goals and be healthy.

Was there ever a time you felt discouraged? What helped you overcome those feelings of discouragement?

There were lots of discouragements.  My back went out on me 2 times in the beginning and I couldn’t move. I got sick or a cold or I cheated or I missed an exercise…  In the beginning it was my Coach that got me on track.  She helped and encouraged me, continuously saying not to give up and that consistency pays off. I listened to her advice, and what she had told me was absolutely true. I wasn’t seeing huge or fast results, but there definitely were results. The other challengers in the group inspired me with kind words and encouragements, or set the example.  Eventually it just became a habit. Along with consistency, a habit formed that allowed me to remove my emotional response when I messed up, and instead of wanting to give up to just keep moving forward. I have the voice in my head all the time saying “keep going,” “move forward,” “don’t give up.” It took time, but I replaced all the negative thoughts I used to have, with positive ones!

Rachael and her kidsWhat achievement are you most proud of? 

My kids say “I don’t remember you being overweight” and that is awesome! The ability to have self-control, and not have my life run by food. The discipline to get in 30 minutes of exercise a day, no matter what. It’s hard to pick just one.

How has your life changed from before you began this journey to now? 

Besides losing the 55 lbs on the outside. I changed on the inside too. Once I saw how good it felt to eat this way and to exercise. I was hooked! Getting stronger is an amazing feeling. It blows my mind that I am not at beginner level anymore. I can do harder workouts. I feel strength throughout my body. Before this I never ate fruits, vegetables, or whole grains. Now I look forward to them everyday. They are treats! Junk food and binge eating are not my fall back anymore. Having the encouragement in my challenge group and all the tips transformed my mind. I am not depressed. I am happy.  All of the negative, useless thoughts I used to have, have been replaced with positive and uplifting thoughts. . I love my life and Iove who I have become and I look forward to the future.

What made you decide to become a Team Beachbody Coach? 

I joined the Beachbody Coaching team because every single one of their products work. I have had success with T25, 21 day fix, 21 Day Fix Extreme, 3-Day Refresh, E&E, and Shakeology, and I have seen many others have success with all the Insanity programs, Body Beast, PiYo, and a host of other programs too. I originally only wanted the discount on Shakeology, but as I began the training a dream took root in my soul. All of the sudden unspoken dreams seemed possible. I could pay off my debt and take vacations all by helping other people reach their health and fitness goals.  I am happy I did because being able to help others reach their goals is one of the most rewarding things for me. Being a coach motivates me during the hard times to keep going because I need to set the example. Because of my Beachbody Coaching business I hope to join in the campaign to help end the trend of obesity in my own life and in the lives of others!

What is your favorite Shakeology flavor, and recipe?

My favorite Shakeology flavor is Chocolate, and I enjoy adding 8-10 ounces of coffee, ice, and water. I shake it up in my shaker cup and love it!

Any words of advice for someone who is just starting up with a new Beachbody program?  

Never give up! No matter what, keep moving forward! Keep your eyes looking ahead. No matter how many times you slip up, don’t give up! Do not expect perfection from yourself, and be realistic with your goals. Little steps turn into big steps and consistency pays off!   In the beginning I botched it up quite a bit, but eventually, because I kept moving forward, it was longer and longer between falling off track. Eventually I started having more good days than bad days. Now everything is in reverse. I am on track most days and very seldom get off track. If I can do it, so can you!
